At Galaxy Event Center, we've always believed that great events shouldn't cost the earth — literally. That's why we're proud to announce that we've achieved Better Business Partnership (BBP) certification, recognising our commitment to sustainable, environmentally responsible business practices right here in Artarmon.

What Is BBP Certification?

The Better Business Partnership program is a free sustainability accreditation supported by local councils across Sydney, including Willoughby Council. It helps businesses like ours reduce waste, save energy and water, and operate more sustainably — while giving our community confidence that we practice what we preach.

Why This Matters for Our Community

As Artarmon's flexible, multi-purpose venue — proudly positioned as "The Airbnb of Events" — we host everything from birthdays and weddings to corporate workshops and wellness sessions.

Our BYO model (bring your own catering, decor, and alcohol) has always been about giving our clients freedom and control. It turns out it's also inherently more sustainable: less packaging waste, less unnecessary overproduction, and more support for local, independent caterers and suppliers.

Becoming BBP certified is a natural next step — formalising what our community-first, flexible model already stood for.

What We're Doing Differently

• Waste reduction: Working with clients and vendors to minimise single-use waste at every event

• Energy efficiency: Ongoing improvements to lighting and energy use across the venue

• Water conservation: Practical measures to reduce water usage on-site

• Supporting local: Encouraging BYO catering and decor from local Artarmon and St Leonards businesses, reducing transport footprint

• Community accountability: Sharing our sustainability journey openly with the Galaxy community
